The itinerary develops among the first pastures above the town of Baveno, between Someraro and Rio Selva, along the slopes of Mottarone. The whole trail gives sights and panoramic views on the Borromean gulf and on Lake Maggiore’s basin, especially during the winter season when the vegetation leaves space for a sight on the lake’s blue and its islands.

The ring path develops halfway up along ancient mule tracks and trails that connect several pastures, passing among the chestnut woods, beech woods and crossing many creeks.

The town of Someraro is reached from Campino, the town that, following a legend of 1700, has the strongest and hardest-working donkeys!

From the town, along the La Riana way (dialect for “creek/river”), the Alpe Gemelli and Alpe Novalesco are reached. Then, going up along the slope, Alpe Leandro, I Monti village and Alpe Cristina are reached.
